Regular funeral homes are typically owned by families and there is clear sense of ownership. Islamic funeral services, however, are operated under Masjid Administration and this aspect is missing. By establishing an independent 501(c)3 entity, we can replicate the distinct sense of ownership.
Since most funeral services are run by volunteer board members, volunteers, and non-professional staff, their focus is not on the grieving family. We aim to make this as easy we can for the family through innovative processes.
The average cost for funeral and burial services is about $8,000. That is a huge expense piled on top of an already great loss for families. However, it is inevitable as licensing, salary, land, and administration cost are incurred by the funeral home. Our objective is to minimize, if not eliminate, this by implementing progressive methodologies and innovation in the funeral process.
